We regret to inform you all that WONK Festival 2013 has been postponed.
Due to unforeseen circumstances that are outside of the reach and control of the festival organizers, we are unable to provide a sanctioned and authorized multi-day event to the public this year. The owners at the Lookout Arts Center site and Skagit County officials have been diligently working to rezone the current 'industrial' zoned property to a 'multi-use' classification. As those of you who have attended in the past know, while massive leaps have been made on the site and its development, there is a lot of work still to be done at "The Quarry".
Upon completion of this rezoning process the Lookout Arts Center shall receive a permanent multi-use venue permit sanctioned for public use at the owners discretion throughout the year. The WONK team is helping in all ways possible to facilitate all steps necessary for the Lookout Arts Center to achieve their rezoned permit by 2014, and we fully anticipate being back better than ever next Summer. WONK has blossomed into a unique and exciting boutique festival in the Pacific Northwest, and you all have helped to make this happen over past years. We cannot wait to be back together with everyone at the quarry next Summer. While it may have been possible to haphazardly move the event to a different site this Summer, we feel it would not result in the positive and professional growth that the festival is aspiring to achieve. For now the Lookout Arts Center is WONK's home, and we, the festival organizers, the Acorn Project family, and the owners of Lookout Arts Center all thank you for your patience and understanding as we take this Summer off to bring you the best WONK in Summer 2014.
If you would like to help volunteer this Summer on one of several work parties out at the site to help our community see this rezoning and site development process completed, please
email us with your contact information. Much love and gratitude always.
